I have always been a fan of this series. There is nothing more satisfying that getting a perfect free-run going then with immaculate timing taking out your target and then disappearing as quickly as you left. To be fair that didn’t happen often but when it did, it was very good.

Revelations was the last in the series. To be fair it was a great game. I didn’t give in the credit it was due, but when I got into it I was hooked again as had happened before. I have a soft spot for Ezio, they really have developed him a character flawlessly. From rebellious youth to confident leader, it was a great journey.

Now we are staring down the barrel of the next installment, and a complete makeover. Now set a bit more forward in history we are following the story of half Native American, Connor. ‘Defeating all those who want to destroy liberty’.

Set during 1775AD it is a completely different format. Moving away from the renaissance and the cities and silk robes, we are now looking at an unforgiving and harsh landscape to prowl around.

The trailers are all showing large groups and battles, which fingers crossed, means that we will get a whole new battle system. It has been rumored that this is the case, with the fighting being the same simple system (counter attack paradise) but it will also be offering a much more precise battle mechanic that people who which to evolve their style, will have the chance too.

I do have big hopes for this game. It is a new environment, a new setting and a new assassin.

There is the chance here to really boost up the franchise and give it a new lease of life. This is one of those franchises that offers a story that you want to follow, a race through time with extraordinary characters and amazing feats, all with a slither of truth (some character names and of course the locations) in there just to make it a little more awesome.

I will definitely be keeping my ear to the ground for this one.
